Fed up with twenty plus years of back pain, I decided to give Yoga a try. It wasn't quick or easy, but it worked. Far more importantly, though, Yoga has become a path toward deep and necessary change, equipping me with the tools and resolve to peel away the armor of cynicism, fear, and self-doubt. "The mind's a knot, says Kabir, / Not easy to untie." Yoga loosens these binds, allowing us to reside firmly in the present and settle into our true selves. Presently, I teach a range of classes at Asana Studio in Olde Town Arvada. I'm also a member of the Connect Yoga Teacher Training faculty, with a focus on meditation, mantra, The Bhagavad Gita , and Sanskrit. I invite you to join our amazing community and explore this practice with me.

November 15th at Kindness Yoga Broadway (1947 S Broadway, Denver, CO 80210) Alyssa Gunn Teaching with DJ Solo(moon !

Alyssa found yoga over a decade ago and instantly fell in love with the practice. She feels blessed to have learned from some of Denver’s finest teachers. Through yoga, Alyssa found herself, found her path and learned what devotion truly means. Alyssa completed her teacher training at Karma Yoga Center in the fall of 2010 and completed a 2nd 200 hour training with Saul David Raye in 2016. After which, she studied prenatal yoga leading her to become a doula. These trainings were a life-changing experience that helped Alyssa discover how we all truly connect. Alyssa also teaches yoga nidra, a meditative practice that helps one to heal through relaxation. Teaching nidra has guided Alyssa to extensively studying shock and trauma in the yogic context. She also teaches a slow vinyasa style flow class combining deep breathing and longer holds in postures. Alyssa was fortunate enough to discover her potential and true self on her mat and hopes that she can inspire others along their path.

December 6th at Yoga Pod Denver West (14500 W Colfax Dr #131A, Lakewood, CO) Elyse Leren Teaching to music by Slex Allen!

My journey of love really blossomed the day she stepped on her mat 7 years ago. Feeling lost, as most early twenty-somethings do, yoga was the one thing that brought intention to my life. A weekly class changed my direction so drastically, I needed to further my yogic growth so after moving to Boulder, I studied under Shannon Paige and graduated with 200 RYT and Anjali Restorative certifications. Always looking for more knowledge, I started my 300hr training with Amy Ipolitti in 2018. Inspired by the world around me, I brings a sense of empowerment and love to each class. By using breath, meditation and music, I hope to keep each class light with a taste of power. My goal is to learn, along with my students, how to greet life with open arms and find love and light in everything. I hope each yogi leaves class refreshed and ready to take on the world!

December 20th at Samadhi Golden Triangle (1070 Bannock Street Denver, CO 80204) Sarah Shaw Teaching with DJ Erin Wimert!

Sarah strives to create a thoughtful, well-rounded yoga experience while offering a warm and supportive space. Students are invited to tune in to their inner guidance to cultivate a meaningful practice that nourishes their unique body and constitution. Her classes encompass equal parts intelligent sequencing and intuitive exploration. Mindful movement while honoring the natural rhythm of the breath is encouraged, steadied by a foundation of energetic alignment. Sarah originally found a deep love for yoga as a child, when she stumbled across an early morning PBS program featuring Pat Hansen. At this young age she knew she would someday share the beauty of yoga with others, and though her path sometimes meandered, she eventually returned to the practice as an adult. Sarah completed her 200 hour training at Samadhi Center for Yoga, under the tutelage of Denver’s most well respected teachers. She completed another 200 hour training in the style of Prana Vinyasa™ in 2018 through her teacher Devon Sweeney, and is currently working toward her 500 hour certification in the same style, as transmitted by the amazing Shiva Rea. Sarah teaches SUP, Yin, Restorative, Gentle, and Yoga Nidra, and also holds certifications as a Reiki Practitioner and Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. Sarah believes the embodiment and philosophy of our yoga practice can and should follow us off the mat, where a deep compassion and empathy for ourselves will ripple outward. This compassion can inform our actions towards all living beings and the sacred Earth we inhabit. Sarah is passionate about championing animal rights and sustainable habits to lesson our impact on our planet. She loves hanging out under the sun on her standup paddleboard, creating sacred jewelry and organic body care products, and spending time with her beloved partner and sweet little pet rats.

January 17th with Axis Yoga at Color Up! Derik Eselius is teaching to music by Ananda!

Derik was first introduced to yoga in 1991 while on a rogue trip to India just after highschool. As he studied asana, yoga philosophy and meditated on the shores of the Ganges. A whole new world opened up inside of him and the tone for his entire adult life was set. Over the ensuing decades, he studied with world-renowned asana and meditation teachers, completed multiple 200 and 300-hour trainings, and returned to India many times to deepen his study. He considers Baba Hari Dass and Yogarupa Rod Stryker to be his primary teachers. In 2003, he and his wife (Dr. Brenna Hatami) started Axis Yoga Trainings in Denver Colorado. Axis, soon to be the “Denver Yoga Underground”, is a school dedicated to workshops and yoga teacher trainings and is a safe haven for a diversity of people who may prefer to practice outside of a studio setting. Personally, he believes that we each have a purpose and that life circumstances lead us an evolutionary journey to understand ourself and the role we must play. All experiences, whether “positive” or “negative” are an opportunity to enrich our spirit and character. Yoga aids in that process.
